This is official description
By encrypting messages before they leave your computer to the Internet, SimpLite-MSN prevents eavesdroppers from reading your MSN Messenger conversations. As the original successor of Simp 1.0, SimpLite-MSN benefits from state of the art algorithms to secure your messages, whilst maintaining an intuitive interface.
The following review written by one of the Software Informer contributors applies to version 2.2
If you are using MSN messenger, then you must have seen the credit card warning that says "Never give out your password or credit card number in an instant message conversation.". Unfortunately all messages sent or received through your MSN messenger, recently known as Microsoft Windows Live messenger, are sent in plain text format which makes it very easy for any user on the same network to read everything that you send or receive through any network sniffer software. Now, SimpLite-MSN 2.2 provides you with the solution for this problem by encrypting the data sent through your Microsoft Windows Live messenger with strong algorithms. However this will not work unless the other parties of the conversation have the same program installed. Using the configuration wizard, the balloon box functionality can be enabled or disabled, specify the type of internet connection, choose between many MSN clients such as Windows Live, Windows messenger, trillian, GAIM, Pidgin or others unlisted clients. The program contains an RSA key encryption generator that helps making your chat conversations unreadable by network sniffers. The program itself can be password protected to prevent unauthorized access. |
